We provide data literacy training for nonprofit organizations and support anyone who would like to develop their data skills. Our purposeful training covers a wide range of skills from how you can collect and organize data up to more advanced skills like conducting program evaluation.
Many data literacy trainings begin with data (e.g., defining and identifying variables). We start with examples drawn directly from your work (or from other similar nonprofit organizations) and then walk through how to use data as a part of your organization’s learning journey. This holistic and real-world approach makes understanding technical or abstract concepts easier and more engaging. This is especially relevant if you never thought that you would be using data at work!

Karen L. Drill, PhD | Founder and Principal Consultant | (she/her)
I love connecting with people and learning about what motivates them in their nonprofit work—whether they have lived experience with the social issue they are addressing, have a deep interest in improving an aspect of their community, or want to contribute to the greater good.
When you’re committed to advancing your mission, you also have questions. Are our programs making a difference? Could we improve our processes to better serve our community? What are our community’s needs? So many questions! And those questions can be answered with data.
Unfortunately, many people find the mere thought of using data daunting. They think it’s inaccessible, abstract, or only an onerous requirement that “we have to do for funders.”
Let’s move away from those beliefs and step into the power that comes from answering your own questions with your data.
Based on my experience struggling to understand data concepts presented in a dry and abstract manner, I promise that I will never subject you to a data literacy training or coaching session that’s a snoozer. We’ll work together in ways that are practical, relevant, and connected to your work, so you can continue to learn about what works best for the communities you serve.
I truly believe that if I could figure out how to use and analyze data, so can you!
Outside of work, I can be found drinking coffee or spending time in nature. If you are seeking evaluation services or analytic support, please visit The Drill Consulting Group.
